New York Representative, Hakeem Jefferies has been selected as the new Democratic House Leader in the US House of Representatives.
The 52 year old Jefferies becomes the first Black person to lead a major party in the United States.
Jefferies replaces Nancy Pellosi, 82, who stepped down from the position as the Democrats lost control of the House in the last mid-term elections
