I’m almost 30 and I’m thinking of purchasing my own built up gaming PC soon and I don’t know if I should do it or not.
If you had asked before the 31st of February then you would have been able to start PC gaming.
Unfortunately on that day myself and the other Elders of PC Gaming had our annual meeting and determined that the maximum age to start PC gaming was going to have to be 24 and a half (the half is very important).
If you try and start PC gaming at an age older than that we will have to send the PC police after you where you will be arrested and sentenced to 12 years of hard console gaming as punishment.

The real answer is
LOL it’s never too late to start gaming! Welcome to the club, friend, I’m going to suggest a couple of my favorites to get you started:
Skyrim (The special edition, plus all DLC)
Borderlands 2 (Plus all DLC)
These two games alone will give you MONTHS of enjoyable gaming, especially if you get into modding Skyrim…
Some hardware advice:
(I’m highly biased, this isn’t advice that will save you a ton of money, but will give you a good gaming experience without breaking the bank).
Processor-Intel i5, don’t bother overclocking.
Video card-Something with the nVidia 2060 Super chipset, a VERY nice card for the price.
SSD for your main drive is a VERY good idea. They aren’t super expensive anymore, and can significantly impact performance.
Don’t worry about running stuff at 4k unless you want to double the cost of your initial purchase. I personally use a 40 inch tv with 1920×1080 resolution, and I’m totally happy with it.
Don’t be afraid of cheaper mice or keyboards when shopping, my best experience to date has been with a $10 ‘gaming mouse’ I got on a whim, it has adjustable DPI (you can change the speed WHILE playing with the click of a single button, very useful for first person shooters).
Essentially, if you have a limited budget, build from the video card down. Without good video, the rest of the parts don’t matter.
CPU is important as well, but as long as you keep it i5 or better, you will be fine.
Don’t listen to people who say that you need more than 16GB of RAM. You don’t. You could probably do fine with 8… but I find 16 to be the magic number.
Anything else that might help you?
RESEARCH the parts. Don’t just look at amazon ratings. Do the footwork. I’ve chosen parts with lesser performance that cost more because of the reliability they offer. Your gaming machine will run at 0 frames per second if the fancy RGB motherboard you bought fails and has to be sent out for warranty…
